This aims to depict the mythological story of Bacchus and his desire for the attentions of wood-nymphs. Here he can be seen trying (and apparently succeeding) to woo a wood nymph with the wine and grapes - items he is often associated with. The green hue of the painting is owing to the Bacchus chase scenes often occurring in the green wooded depths of forest as a wood nymph escapes into the safety of the trees from Bacchus' lecherous reach! Hope you like it! R
