The male Painted Bunting is probably the most colorful bird of Northern America. Nevertheless it is often hard to find out from where his beautiful voice come since he prefers to hide in foliage. Juveniles and females have a green or yellow-green plumage, which serves well as camouflage. The breeding ranch includes Arizona, New Mexico, south and east Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, northern Florida the coastal regions of Georgia and South Carolina and northern Mexico. Occasionally they could be seen outside their usual range as New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. They winter in Florida, Cuba, the Bahamas, the coastal regions of Mexico and thorough Central America.
