Children Contest Entry
The picture was taken while traveling in a human mission. The group of voluntaries brought medical and humanitarian help to an area which was severe infested with fever bearing mosquitoes. Life is hard in a in the Jungle community. There are none of the accommodations we westerns cannot live without. There is no electricity. Water is gathered daily at a sinkhole connected about three miles away. Community members do this duty in a rotary system. There are no hospitals or schools nearby. All community members speak only the native language of this region. Some of the adults of our group where accompanied by their kids. We did know that children usually bound fast in spite of language barriers, especial when a soccer ball comes into play. It is a holiday. The boys are wearing their new close, but not the precious new shoes. Those boys could not resist the ball. One of the kids is the son of one of our group members. This "alien" kid is easy to spot. It is the only one who wears sneakers.
