Steam train pulling into Wigan North Western.

Steam Excursion

by Paul Featherstone

This photograph was taken on the 15th February of this year when The Railway Touring Company put on a chartered steam train to go around the Yorkshire Dales and back into Lancashire. In this picture you can see London Midland Scottish "Black Five" 4-6-0s Nos.44871 and 45407 pulling into platform one of Wigan North Western Railway Station. I had mixed feelings about this photograph because usually I hate having plain blue skies in my photographs and with the same token I am not a great fan of showing electrified train lines especially when I am taking pictures of steam trains. However, in this picture the electrified lines seem to give the photograph more interest as they break up the plain blue sky. Thank you for your time!
