Man Impacted Landscape Contest Entry
Man can positively or negatively impact the landscape around him. Too often it becomes negative in filling wetlands, increasing runoff and flooding, cutting trees, pollution, paving land for parking lots, etc.
I wanted to focus on the positive actions of man and his development.
This sculpture is called Spoonbridge and Cherry at a Minneapolis Art Center. The handle of the spoon is actually a bridge across the pond. The top of the cherry spouts a fine mist in warm weather. If you look closely, you can see the water mist drain off the cherry at the bottom.
On a sunny day it just gleams. I can sit and watch it for long periods, kind of memorizing.
The Minneapolis skyline is in the background.
