The Plumeria, named after the French botanist Charles Plumier, is a decorative Tree of many names: Frangipani, Flores de Miel [Honey Flower], Pagoda Tree, Temple Tree, Lirio de la Costa [Lilly of the Coast] and Tamaiba are just some of these names. The colors of the blossoms are as many as the names. My painting shows a Plumeria with blossoms of mixed color, the hybrid Lei Rainbow. The scent is sweet. The Hawaiians use the blossoms for leis to be hung around the neck of visitors. The tree is found in tropical climates around the world. The Origin is unclear but it is thought that the tree originated in Central America. A white form is a native to the West Indies. Another white native form with smaller blossoms and pointed leafs is found in the jungle of southern Mexico. The Tree shed the leaves usually before blooming to support its blossoms.

The digital painting was finished August 28th, 2016.
