Although all the flower beds at my place remain buried under FEET of snow I decided that the first day of spring warranted a bright, cheery flower post rather than another snowy landscape one!

Several years ago I grew tired of bending the blade on my lawn mower every time I hit rock ledge just below the grass on one particular portion of my lawn. I gathered up some of my best white granite boulders and built a large round bed that I filled w/ PEONIES and TULIPS (the TULIPS flower first....a few weeks before the PEONIES)

This photo shows a small section of that bed (the white spots being portions of that circular granite rock edging) For this image I concentrated on the yellow TULIPS. They are this beautiful lemon yellow color w/ each petal delicately edged in red. The combination of those along w/ the solid red TULIPS is something I am REALLY looking forward to seeing in a couple of months.
