Flamingo at Garden Sanctuary

Flattering Flamingo Pose

Photograph of the Month Contest Winner
My Favorite National Geographic Photographer is Joel Sartore. He gets the rare opportunity to visit wildlife all around the world in captivity as well as free. Most of his Photos are taken with black cloth or white as a backdrop. Sometimes he will paint a wall in a cage either color. They release the animal into the cage and he has a perfect background to allow the animal our full attention.
I don't have that luxury, but I do have the luck of visiting this sanctuary once a year and every time I rains. So the background was mostly dark, I just needed to help it along in some areas.
I liked the pose and the soft light, So I was happy to channel Joel in the taking of this Flamingo.
All manual settings/Handheld/Kelvin Scale for white balance control and low light shooting.
