Took photo of a days old fawn that I found nestled in vegetation not far from my house. I then edited the image to better show the texture of it's coat and the detail of the spots. Newborn fawns have no scent of their own for a few days, and are able to avoid detection by predators. Since most predators are color blind, the fawn's spots break up their form, acting as a natural camouflage. This along with their instinct to remain perfectly still allows them to go undetected.
