Geometric patterns in a frozen mud puddle

Cold Shapes

Photograph of the Month Contest Entry
Taken early December in on a walk in North Yorkshire, UK - when the weather should have told us otherwise we went out to a nice spot with the dogs, but didn't anticipate quite how bad the mud would be due to recent weather. Took a wrong turn and ended up having to slip, slide and at points practically wade through this icy bog to get back on route - the dogs weren't too happy but I think impressed with the advanced course we had surprised them with ;). The only good thing was there were some great frozen mud puddle patterns that I managed to somehow capture in the varying size/depth puddles- this being one of them, with the best geometric patterning I've ever seen. It was freezing cold, filthy and amazing.
