This is an impressive concrete sculpture in a small California town (Auburn). It was erected to showcase the Gold Rush and the 49ers that came to get rich. This is a close up portrait of a 15 foot tall sculpture. His expression was created to show is surprise upon panning some soil and finding gold in the pan! I'm rich!!

The portrait is of Claude Chana, the prospector that first discovered gold in the foothills east of Sacramento in 1848.
The sculptor was dentist, Ken Fox.
