This was taken from a riverboat and shows the Village of Durnstein, Austria. It is a vacation destination featuring the ruins of a castle on the hillside, a beautiful church in a classic style on the rivers edge and of course the old village with cobbled, winding streets and classic architecture. The village is located on the Danube River in the Wachau Valley which was a major passageway for travel and commerce. The castle on the hill is supposed to have been the prison for Richard the Lion Heart. I think the image represents the historical nature of the area as well as the quaint beauty of this town today. The "Wedgewood" style steeple on the local cathedral is a beacon to travelers. The valley is a major attraction for vacations, wine and history. All of these elements can be found in this small village.
Image was taken hand held on a moving boat.
