The Monarch butterfly ranks among the most famous butterflies of the Americas. It is summer guest of southern Canada and the northern USA and migrates in winter to more hospitable climates of the southern US and Mexico. Through the migration flights often individuals wander of curse and even show up in Europe. Others have colonized in Australia and oceanic islands, including Hawaii. Additional Population range all year in lowlands of Central and South America.

The Indian Blanket is one of the many common names of Gaillardia pulchella. Other common names are Mexican Blanket, Firewheel and Sundance. The flower is native to the southern US and northern Mexico, but was also introduced to the northern US and Canada, parts of Central- and South America, South Africa and China, where it got naturalized in scattered locations.
The flower got introduced to natural gardens for its attraction to bees and butterflies.
