Portrait Art Contest Contest Entry
16 X 20 mixed media on Canson Art Board
Post Type: Traditional Art
Mixed Media: Minor | Nefertiti was an Egyptian queen, wife of Akhenaten, an Egyptian Pharaoh. Nefertiti and her husband were known for worshipping only one god: Aten, The Sun Disc. Pyramids were an important part of their culture.

I sketched out my image of Queen Nefertiti on white art board. I then added the sun disc. I then added my cubist lines making sure that I created a pyramid behind her image. I then colored everything in keeping the lighter colors on the sun disc side and the darker colors on the shadow side.

This is my first attempt to create a cubist influenced piece. I chose to break the rules and use brighter colors in order to play up to her royal stature.
