I have finally been fortunate enough to see a Great Egret this year and I was able to get close enough to get some shots. I liked the way he fluffed his feathers after his meal.

Great Egrets are a little smaller than Great Blues but share many of the same behaviors such as wading in shallow water or standing still for long periods of time to hunt fish and other small aquatic animals. The Great Egret mainly hunts while wading.

They are also the symbol of the National Audubon Society, which is one of the oldest environmental organizations in North America.
