A 24x36 inch pallet knife oil on canvas painting
Rio Grande sunrise

Nature Art Contest Contest Entry
There is a place on the Rio Grande river about half way between Santa Fe and Taos New Mexico just north of the white water river rapids. The river squeezes between two rugged cliffs. That place is on the west side of the road between Santa Fe and Taos. The road winds and turns up a canyon. If you do not pay extreme attention driving that road it could be the last time you ever drive on a road. There are only a few turnouts. A few hundred yards from one of them, I forget which, you can see the Rio Grande rushing through the canyon. This is my interpretation of that spot on the Rio Grande done with a pallet knife with the intention to show the different canyons and levels as the river flow south into the sunrise on a winter morning with the clouds filled with snow just before the snow falls and the sun rises just under the clouds.
