Railroad Tracks Long Forgotten
by Jill Mullins
The Color Green - Photography (a) Contest Entry
These tracks cross a stream that once went to the coal mine in Nuttallburg, deep in the New River Gorge of West Virginia. This coal mine was once leased by Henry Ford to supply coal to the Ford Motor Company's River Rouge plant in Dearborn, Michigan. The underground mine was established in 1873 and successfully ran until it closed in 1958.
