On 5th November we have our Bonfire Night in the UK when we burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes on our bonfires and let off spectacular fireworks. I have happy memories of when I was a child when we had jacket potatoes roasted on the fire, parkin, treacle toffee and toffee apples, etc., whilst watching the displays. I used a 6" x 6" piece of glossy photopaper for this abstract impression of Bonfire Night. I mixed black, red and gold acrylic paint in separate pots with added PVA glue, then poured some of each colour in random lines over the paper. At the top end I poured a thicker line of black paint, then using a damp piece of kitchen roll I gently swiped this from top to bottom, creating cells and shapes on the way. I tweaked some colours with a cocktail stick to encourage different shapes.
