Traditional Artwork of the Month Contest Entry
This is an oil on linen canvas 40cm x 60cm ,depicting a Bull in the charging motion.
This is one of a few paintings that I will be displaying in a Spanish restaurant in the centre of London later this month, the theme being Spanish Culture.
It was in 1980 that I attended my first and only ever Bullfight in the Monumental,Barcelona which has been closed down since 2011 following protests from animal activists.
It was at this time that I took a few pictures of the event with my kodak instamatic camera which I have managed to dig out from my memorabilia and will be displaying those 7 photographs alongside the painting of the Bull. Undoubtadly it will invite some discussion.
The subject was sketched with use of Pan Pastel and then I used Michael Harding Oils including that delicious Vermillion from the Caravaggio Palette.
