12 snowmen ,, one for each month line up to be fitted with their red candle then hung on the traditional Christmas tree. These guys are antiques going back 6 generations and have been passed down . They come out every year and are fitted with their candles and put on our tree in Germany. They are from a time when candles were actually lit on the pine trees in the homes at Christmas. These days recognised as very dangerous. However much against my reasoning, the family really do light them and it's some sight to see the baubles etc flickering in the light of real fire. However we are vigilent and on guard and immediately douse each candle as it runs down. Better safe than sorry.
