Oil on 9x12 inch canvas panel

Frozen River

by Lucas Sizov

The Cold Art Contest Contest Entry
Everyone knows if the temperature is low enough, water will turn into ice. In this painting I wanted to show how winter affects the water in nature. Large rivers do not freeze "through out" because ice on top insulates the water below from further rapid freezing. In the northern regions, small rivers can freeze from bank to bank, surface to river bed completely during the coldest months. But usually there is a water flow current under the sheet of ice. It's a sign of life! All Nature is waiting for the Spring Season to wake up!
Post Type: Mixed Media Traditional Art
Mixed Media: Some Traditional oil medium. Some mix media was used to created the sheet of ice.
