A Blue-black horse with white mane and tail leaping at night while galloping up a barren flood plane. The sandy plane is actually based on a broad, flat delta of an extremely wide arroyo called Las Maravillas that lay many miles north of La Paz, Baja, Mexico. The name means "The Marvels." In the 1970's, among the marvels at Las Maravillas were bands of huge, very fast pinto burros, that as far as I know, no one ever caught and tamed. They were like "zebras on steroids." When a couple of our horses and mules wandered up there to this plane and joined the burros, I never got them back. I did have a jenny return though, who gave birth to a delightful foal with a huge white star on its forehead. I didn't add the herds of burros to this image because I thought it would make it look too busy...
