Agouti is a type of rodent. There are 11 species of Agouti. They can be found in the central and southern America. Agouti live in tropical rainforest, scrublands, Savannah, grassland, and evergreen lowland forest. Agouti is well known by its specific two coloured type of hair. Agouti looks like a close relative of the guinea pig Agoutis are equipped with sharp incisors that are able to crack the shell of a Brazilian nut. besides nuts they eat fallen fruit, succulent plants and crabs. Agouti sits on its hind legs while eating, it holds the food by its front feet. Agouti lives in family groups composed of a mating couple and their offspring.
