Traditional Art - Birds Contest Entry
This was done as a one of a pair of paintings of parrots, the other is the Rainbow Lokateer. The bird itself is a pet of a friend, I did a sketch then used reference photos. I painted the underpainting in burnt umber except for the white areas which were in pink gesso. Then layered acrylics. The sunflowers in a potted plant at home inspired this composition.
