:This is certainly the most beautiful rose I have in my garden with the darkest red color, impossible to capture perfectly with my camera. Papa Meilland is a cross of 'Chrysler Imperial' x 'Charles Mallerin, both highly scented, velvety, rich-red roses, bred by Meilland International SA in France in 1963. Flowers of dark velvety crimson open from pointed, almost black, buds. The blossoms are large and high-centered, with 35 petals, and are borne mostly singly on strong stems. It was the first cultivar of roses officially registered in France, under the name of "Meicesar". This rose won dozens of distinctions like "The Rose Hall of Fame" which contains roses considered world favourites by a vote of members of the World Federation of Rose Societies.
