Limestone outcroppings off the coast of Australia

The Twelve Apostles

These small islands off the south coast of Victoria Australia have a story that began millions of years ago. Shells and other sea-life settled in layers in an ancient seabed forming the soft limestone rock seen today. However wind, rain and the sea are slowly eroding these formations at about 2cm a year.
