Mixed Media Photograph of the Month Contest Entry
We have had some interesting sunsets due to haze resulting from some wildfires in Canada. The first night I ended up with an image resembling alaskapat?s red sun image. The second night I decided to try and photograph the sun between the antlers of one of my deer skulls.Unfortunately I didn?t have a suitable pole available,so I had to improvise. Did have a section of a hollow log,I put a section of a cut branch in hole, then stacked some more sections on top. Then had to use a couple of small cedar blocks so I could angle the skull downward a bit, sort of resembled a scary version of Jenga. Then had to position myself on the ground to get the sun between the antlers. Unfortunately we didn?t get the red sun that we had the night before as there was a low layer of clouds that the sun disappeared behind. This final image was achieved by adding a morning glow, then an accentuate look, sharpened the image a bit, changed the sun from a bright white ball to a yellow one, edited out some irregularities in the makeshift pole, and further enhanced the color.Image was slightly cropped also
