I seem to be coming across a LOT of snakes lately. This shot was taken on a day I didn't expect to see any. It was super cloudy and I don't usually see snakes or turtles sunning themselves then. This is a Female Black Northern Water Snake. You can tell because they are much larger than the male. This one was sunning herself in the perfect place with none of her body hidden from view. I wanted a real close-up of her head and eye. I took this shot over an embankment about 6' away. You can actually see me in her eye on the left side. The tall silhouette is me. I hope you enjoy the shot. Thanks So much for stopping by. :o) Helvi
