Rescued Bald Eagle

Survivor

This is a female Bald Eagle on loan to the Minnesota Zoo from the US Fish and Wildlife Service. She was found in 1997 in Wisconsin suffering from a broken wing and lead poisoning.

She was taken to the University of Minnesota Raptor Center where the veterinarians discovered that her wing injury was old and healed in a way that made fixing it impossible. Sadly she will never fly again so she could not be released back into the wild. They estimate her to be around 26 year old now.
