An Old Junked Car

~The Wrecked Kaiser ~

by Sean T Phelan

This damaged and deteriorated 1946 Kaiser 'Special' four-door sedan was wrecked in a 'driver training accident' years after it had been retired from daily highway use by the farm owner who'd purchased it new in the late fall of 1945. His teen aged son,who was allowed to use it as a 'field car' on the family property in the early 1960s, managed to side swipe a tree and then roll the car down an embankment which put the old brute 'out of action'.
After being pulled from the ditch at the bottom of the embankment that it came to rest in and having a few half-hearted attempts made at repairing and/or customizing it ( including the installation of the awful-looking homemade center grill work ) it lay quietly in a grassy field for many years. ( It's gone now.I don't know where! )
Here's my portrait drawing of it,done using various grades of Graphite Pencil. ( #s 2B,3B,and 4B mostly )
