These are big-tooth aspen (Populus grandidentata)leaves,my favorite to include in my photos. Unlike quaking aspen and cottonwood leaves that just turn yellow,big tooth aspen leaves can turn various shades of orange and red. These I collected during several walks up the road,storing them in a ziplock bag that I kept in the fridge until i could set up my shot. The deer skull was partially submerged in the water with the leaves floating around it so that their colors would contrast against the starkness of the skull. Image was sharpened,leaf colors enhanced and the background was darkened.
