This pastel drawing is number 3 in a series of 6 created for the purpose of exalting the femininity and the beauty of women. In one form or another, women have been seen as special. Simply put, they are. Women create life and nurture life. Men spark and protect life, but women are the ones who grow, direct and nurture life. There are times I simply do the painting. There are times I map out the painting in pencil or charcoal. And there are times I map the painting with pencil, do color shading and detail enhancement with pastels to be able to see the painting before it becomes one. This series is such a time as I am striving to make this series a stunning honor of the essence of femininity. The final paintings will then be placed in a decorated gold frame and boxed away until a showing.
