Painting of a Brook Trout

Brook Trout

by Brady Nielson

Animal Art Contest Contest Entry
One of my favorite trout to fish for, the brook trout is one of the most colorful trout around! This particular brook trout is one of the last fish I caught with my grandpa before he died, about 15 years ago. I used the mount I have of the fish as a reference for this painting. The fish weighed in around five pounds, relatively large for this species as the Utah State record is 7 pounds 8 ounces caught in a lake on the Boulder Mountains. This trout was caught in a lake on the Boulder Mountain as well. I have a lot of great memories of the Boulder Mountain and fishing with my Grandpa, Dad, and Brothers. I hope you enjoy my art!
Post Type: Traditional Art
Mixed Media: Minor Drew the outline of the brook trout with pencil before finishing off the piece with acrylic paint.

This was completed on 12 x 24 inch stretched canvas.
