This piece is about hope. When the world is drained of it?s light and left without it?s color, what is there to strive for? Sometimes a splat of it is all that?s needed to guide one?s sight, to see the unseen and beyond. Moral of this story? Be that splash of color that?ll inspire millions and they will follow suite. Become a shining beckon of hope to those in times of darkness when all else seems lost because even the littlest of things can make a big difference in someone?s life. *ARTIST NOTES* Taking a stab at Greek mythology, I wanted to put emphasis on Athena?s artistic side as she was not only the goddess of wisdom and war; but one in the crafts. So she?s more of an artess, per say. Owls were her sacred symbol for wisdom. In Greece, her tree, the olive tree, symbolized peace, prosperity, resurrection and hope. This was believed during the events leading up to Athens going down in flames by the Persian King Xerxes, where Athena?s olive trees were being kept. Reflecting on this tragedy as well as all four of the meanings explained played a significant role throughout the piece. Color scheme originally involved more brown tones but felt black and white worked out for the better. A front view of an owl?s face can be seen from afar.
Post Type: Mixed Media Traditional Art
Mixed Media: Major Placement of owls, oak trees and Athena (seen in the middle) were thought out from my head. Colors consist of mixed blacks and whites with splashes of yellows and blues.
