This is a male eastern-tailed blue butterfly(Cupid?s comyntas),a common butterfly found in eastern North America. It is distinguishable from other blues by it?s small.thin tails. The upper side of the male?s wings are blue, those of the female are a lighter blue to brown or even charcoal. The underside can be white or tan. It is a tiny butterfly with a wingspan of only .83 to 1.14 inches in width. I came across this on an somewhat overcast morning in some tall grasses near a neighbor?s pond, and it very nicely posed for me! Adjusted brightness and sharpness, edited out some grass distractions.
