The aftermath of a forest fire. The Junkins wildfire near Wetmore Colorado started in mid October of 2016 and burned nearly 18,000 acres of forest before being contained in early November of that year. Numerous homes, outbuildings, livestock and wildlife were destroyed. Four years later the burnt trees and naked hillsides are still painfully obvious. This fire was started by a downed powerline that landed on a barbed wire fence.
