These are my father?s dog tags and whistle,he enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was sent to Sampson Air Force Base in New York State where he became an instructor and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. Originally I had planned a photo using a poppy,but as poppies are not very sturdy flowers and don?t last long after being cut, I had to scrap that idea,plus it was breezy out,which didn?t help in the least, so I ended up using a red rose instead. I set up the scene on a mirror from my parents house. In editing the photo,I discovered that the mirror wasn?t quite as clean as I had thought,so I edited out several imperfections,as well as the rose leaf,adjusted sharpness and brightness. I then added several filters to give it a nostalgic feel,then re-colored the rose.
