I had not worked with Acrylics as much as drawing and oil, some watercolor. So after I started back to drawing and painted, I practiced on smaller (8" x 10") Plein Air panels. After doing several there, I wanted a dove--because of what it represents spiritually--to be my first acrylic painting on thicker acrylic paper, 11" by 14" I believe. I watched the fine artist Angela Anderson do a dove in the opposite direction to be sure my drawing would be accurate. I lightly drew the dove then painted it, doing some drawing with the brush only on the dove. Today, I added the rectangle with the words inside and the string-rope in Photoshop as a layer as well as my initials as another layer and saved a copy of the whole work also in one layer. I didn't know whether or not to indicate this work as mixed because I used Photoshop only to include this. I Love the Lord God, Jesus Christ His Son, and Know that our great Creator designed everything fabulously. He wants humanity to appreciate and protect His creation and creatures. As a minister, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Heb. 11:1) "Without faith it is impossible to please God," Scripture says and above all, I wish to please the Giver of good gifts and of talents. As the dove represents gentleness and love, God loves His creation.
Post Type: Traditional Art
Mixed Media: None | After I had gone back to painting and drawing, I wished to work with Acrylic more and to draw a dove as my first Acrylic not using the Plein panels. A dove represents Peace--the Peace of God. I watched the wonderful artist Angela Anderson do a dove facing the other way. I did add the stringlike rope, box, and Words as well as my initials in Photoshop but my painting--including the background-- was all done with Acrylic and no drawing was on the background wall; I just painted it.
