Do you remember daily formal Handwriting lessons taught in school- manuscript/printing and cursive writing practice? I am a retired teacher- having taught grades Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, grades 1 and 2 for 25 years, and then I was a substitute teacher of grades pre-k through grade 3 for another 7 years. I remember teaching handwriting lessons in school up until the early 2000s- when handwriting being formally taught was being phased out year after year by most school systems, and it was left to parents and outside sources to learn children handwriting. Now most children communicate by texting and using computer keyboards. A lot of children and also young adults are missing out on the lost art of Penmanship. I used the Paint program on my computer to create this nostalgic-like look at students involved in a handwriting lesson/practice on the good old classroom chalkboard.
