My neighborhood, like many, was hit hard by the cicadas the year. there sound was defining. I really didn't want to be outside, but I needed to solder circuit board, and I have to solder outside as the vapor is dangerous and it is not smart to solder indoors. This cicada flew right into my face causing me to jerk my arm and flinging hot solder onto my hand. In case you don't know what solder is it is a special metal wire that is heated up by the tip of a soldering iron, which looks kind-of like a pen, and then is used to connect other metal pieces together. So as you could imagine flinging hot metal onto your hand would hurt. After tending to the burn I came back out and took some photos of the cicada as it made its slow retreat across the deck railing.

Mixed Media: Minor I used my Canon PowerShot SX530 HS to take this photo of a cicada walking along the railing of my back deck. I then used Adobe LightRoom to adjust the lighting, and enhance the detail
