Hello, I'm Bob, a bit of a snob,

I have a torn ear and a nose out of joint,
My fur is quite soft and have claws to a point.

Many a battle I have fought in my life.
Especially with those who were after my wife.

I live in an alley with those who are pally;
. ... the rest watch me warily,
and call me battling Bob ... actually!

Battling Bob is the cat of a friend. In his youth he used to fight he is so ugly he is handsome. (Also aloof but lovable) I painted him in oil pastels as a portrait and used that to bring together this little story for children of all ages. , I used a cartoon theme as a contrast and to produce something a little different.
