This is an illustration for a memoir book being written by my dear friend Geoff who started work at 15 direct on the coal face pushing tugs of material like props etc and later to actually hew the coal. He remembers those days and the sweat and the dirt and the community spirit that existed between the men and boys as they moved 25 tons of coal each, every day.
