Nature Photo Contest Contest Entry
This is the only occasion when I found more than two Burrowing Owls close together. It took me quite a while to find a position without any of the weeds in front of any of their faces at once and also getting the eye contact of all of the owls at once. My patience was finally rewarded. The perch that appears in the photo is often put at the nesting sites to warn of their presence and provide a lookout. They are protected as they nest in properties very near homes and businesses.
