A colony of Grey Headed Flying Foxes have made their home on the edge of the Adelaide Botanical Gardens close to the entry of our Zoo. It started off as a small population and now is estimated to be around 46,000 in number. During the extreme heat conditions we have in Adelaide we can lose several thousand as they do not have the ability to keep cool in extremes. Fortunately for them we have had milder summers for the past few years allowing the population to increase.
