Picture this.... It is April 27, 2011, you in Rainsville, AL. You heard of the outbreak and saw the tornadoes that tore through the different communities', cities, and towns. So you are very aware of what is going on with the weather..... You then see the weather talk about your area and that they are watching an area of storms that have some very strong rotation. But they are unsure if anything is on the ground because the radar in the area has been knock out of service due to the early morning storms. Then, all of a sudden you hear the wind begin picking up. You notice off in the distance that there is stuff flying in the air. Then, the weather man come across the screen saying "We have a TORNADO EMERGENCY for the city of Rainsville, please get UNDERGROUND". Then, you see it.... walking across the landscape. You decide that you are fine where you at. But you notice that this tornado is very strong. Even though it is a couple of miles from you. It is still shredding trees and the landscape. This is what a lot of residents experience from this tornado, while was caught up in its path. This is the Rainsville EF5, one of the lesser known but one of the most destructive tornadoes of the outbreak. The reason why this tornado was less known was because the storms earlier that day knocked the radar out of commission in that area, which lead to uncertainty about this tornado even being on the ground. But this tornado did touch down and was so strong it had trouble keeping it's spend. Giving it a "Dead man walking" appearance for early in its life. But once it figured it out, this tornado became a big tornado and was moving at 70 mph 👀. This tornado slabbed a lot houses and businesses. Even houses that had a very good foundation in the ground. It destroyed a couple of rock houses, almost ripped a storm cellar out of the ground, ripped the door off another one.
