Having worked as Lieutenant in the FDNY I always noticed that the logo of the Black and white letter head of FDNY appeared to be the visage of Christ. I then created the collage of that I cut out the logo and added it to a pencil sketch. When Christ died it was considered to be the supreme sacrifice, when a firefighter dies in the line of duty it also is considered to be the supreme sacrifice.

To enter a 110 story Hi-Rise building that contained thousands of people and was hit by an aircraft in the upper floors and that was almost fully involved in flame, took dedication, courage, among other virtues, but most of all Faith, to help and rescue as many people as possible, with total disregard of their own lives. 343 members of the FDNY lost their lives that day and Just as many have died with complications form recovery operations up to this date. Many people were helped that day and many died.

This collage is dedicated to those who made the supreme sacrifice and those who continue to pass.
