On May 25, 2008 an EF5 tornado slammed the South side of Parkersburg. This tornado made history with being the second EF5 (at the time) on the new EF scale. First one happening a year prior in Greensburg, KS(will be a drawing coming soon of that one). This tornado was a mile wide at it largest and winds estimated up to 220 mph. This tornado would leave damage such as: slabbed homes, schools, and businesses, stripped trees of bark and leaves(some cases turning them into dust), rip pavement out of the ground, ripping the walls of some basements out of the ground.
