This is such a powerful image, invoking in me such emotion that I find it difficult to write. That time in our history was the darkest era even imaginable, a shameful time that I find hard to fathom. Your image serves as a perfect remembrance and pays homage to those men and women who suffered so terribly in this despicable place. Thank you.

If it were not for the prisoner in front of Block 14a it would be impossible to guess that this mundane innocent looking building was indeed one of the horror chambers in Auschwitz concentration camp. Your superior technical skill is manifest in casting a somber vintage look in this photo by converting it into sepia color. Excellent exposure and clarity in bringing out the detail of every single brick as well as every detail of the door and its frame. The cloning of the prisoner and blending him seamlessly in the immediate environment is outstanding. Overall it is a very somber evocative composition with a very profound story.

I too visited a concentration camp and I will never forget either. If there is beauty in what they endured which there is not and yet there is beauty in how you have this photo as it gives me chills. I think this is a perfect picture for everyone to see and remember as we should never forget what humans are capable of doing.

Great subject and composition. Nice work with frame blending and adding of textured frame. The choice of sepia also works and so does the fading out of the prisoner... makes the piece look very haunting...

What an amazing story behind this shot and an incredible atmosphere you have captured and created with this photo. This is really wonderful - love the framing used and the change to sepia with the faded, ghost like prisoner presented in front - just wonderful.

What a haunting picture, what a heart breaking story. I am so glad you researched his story and shared it with us, these horrors should never be forgotten. The sepia adds to the haunting image.

This is a chilling image you have presented here - It is a part of history you do not want to remember but should never forget - You have captured the wall and doors very well indeed - great detail. Lighting and focus - Love the change to sepia - and you have transformed the figures transparency perfectly -
