Hi Carl! Fabulous painting you did here. Love the textured background that highlights her face. Brightness on the face shows a keen light source the draws one to her eyes which you painted nicely! Her hair falling over her shoulders is great with fine textures. Excellent!

Carl, you did such a wonderful job on this portrait. You have many shades of green in the background and her green eyes pull you in with her mysterious stare. Love the detail in the wet hair that adorns her beautiful face. Great contest entry for the color green contest. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for the notes which I find would come in handy for my works in future. With fine skill and handling of the medium, you have created a portrait of a woman which is classical in its composition. The harmony of colors and atmospheric light play a supporting role. Well done! Good luck!

Thank you very much for your six star vote and your comments. While I find it difficult to believe that my notes would be useful to an artist as accomplished as your are, it pleases me that you do find them useful.

I am a autodidact. So I try to learn as much as possible by seeing and learning from accomplished artists like you. I have a long way to go in portrait painting.!:)

Understood. And, thank you for sending me to the dictionary. That has happened twice now within the last 24 hours. I just love it when that happens,

A Bonus Star rating as I know very well that the degree of difficulty in creating a fantabulous realistic portraiture is a million times more than a photo capture!
Enigmatic facial expression...
with those expressive eyes and pouting grin...
Like Mona Lisa's mystic smile.
I like the wet look...
Jet black long tresses adds to her animalistic appeal!
Suggestive nudism.
Nude but not nasty.
Erotic but not obscene.
Bold but not vulgar.
Exquisite portrait.
Zenplistic presentation.
Thanks for sharing...

Thank you very much for your six star vote and your terse but incredibly accurate review. I strive to honor a woman's beauty by creating a beautiful painting without usury or exploitation. Bold, erotic, full nudity and maybe even suggestive nudity are elements of honor to a woman. After all, they are the nurturing creators of life enticing us men to be better protectors and givers of life. A presentation that is nasty, obscene or vulgar is absolutely not acceptable to me because we all have a mother and some of us are lucky enough to have a wife and even a daughter. And thank you for declaring this a zenplistic presentation. It is an honor to receive such recognition.

Wow! I'm humbled and honored, as well!
You're most welcome, my friend!

Carl. this is a very nice image with great detail. This picture would not say love to me, she seems very stern. Good use of light and shadow to bring out her features. Well done. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your five star vote and your comments Charles. I appreciate it. As to stern, have you ever been "at sea" or sailed through 30 ft. waves? If you are not stern with being focused you will die. Thanks for noticing the stern look. It was what I was after.

Beautiful work Carl! She appears to have just emerged from the water, probably naked, and her expression is one of "you're not supposed to be here"! I love the notes and you get a virtual 7th Star for those! Well done.

I remember so well the three other Greek goddesses you have painted, and this one looks just as great as the others. I especially like the sea green textured background and the green eyes which I think emphasizes that we are looking at the goddess of water.
I also think these green eyes are really well done with the high lights, and they give personality the to character. It is easy to see that you have paid very good attention to details, and also the use of high lights is excellent.
The only thing I would have changed is less negative space above the head. But this is a minor issue because it think this is a truly lovely and well done painting Carl.

Thank you for your five star vote and your thoughtful comments. I did struggle with thinking about the volume of negative space. I tried different pose sizes, form locations and finally decided to go with the large negative space because I felt it was a little vast giving the feeling of an almost dominate space but controlled by the image, much as a goddess would control the vastness of the earth's seas. Thanks for noticing the abundance of the sea. I appreciate that.

You are more than welcome Carl.

What a stunning portrait, and thanks for sharing your secret - even though I'm such a bad artist I couldn't even draw a winning number for a raffle! Great use of colour and light, good positioning. A real feast for the senses.
