good capture. the clarity is good. the angle of the shot of this eagle enjoying a lil gull is great. im not a fan of seagulls..they are vultures..lol. the capture of the light is great. the image is balanced and eye interesting to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

Prettier sure at this age they learn to kill their pray themselves. Once they are out of the nest they are on their own as they already know how to tear apart their food to eat.
They learn from day one as Eagles do not Regurgitate their food they feed it to them.
Great find and capture, sharp focus, nice clarity with great stop action.
Nice work Pat ;)

What a great shot here Pat. Yes this is what Eagles and all creatures do in the wild. They eat to survive.
I like this shot of this young juvenile that has learned to hunt on it's own.
Very well done Pat ~ Steve

Sad fact of reality! I would like it much better if the entire world were herbivores. Your timing was good for this shot and the clarity is good with nice detail.

Thanks so much ! I agree, I hate to see one animal or bird kill another! The worst thing I have seen is an adult eagle swoop down on the bay and pull a baby otter, it flew right toward me with the baby hanging from its talons, it physically made me sick!

I know! I have a similar terrible memory of a cute little mammal in the clutches of a hawk.
-
It took me a while to get over it. It?s how nature works though.

Maybe the parents or another bird of pray killed the gull and the juvenile took opportunity. So far I know adults eat most of the feathers and even the smaller bones of their kill, but the young bird might have difficulties.
The photo is well taken and interesting. It has good depth and realistic colors and is well framed.

Thanks so much! I watched an eagle nest last year and the adults would bring dead birds to feed the babies, so I think they learn right away. I appreciate your thoughtful review!

Well,I would pluck it ,too,before eating it,don't think those feathers taste good or go down easy-lol! What a great photo op,I like the details in the feathers and that sharp eye,the sand makes for a good neutral color background. An interesting image depicting an eagle engaged in an activity.

Thank you so very much Lee Ann! I don?t like to see this type of thing, but I know it?s nature , the worst thing I have seen was an adult eagle swooping down on the bay and pulling a baby otter, it flew right toward me with the baby hanging from its talons, that literally made me sick!

I understand,I wouldn?t have wanted to see that either.I saw a PBS special on the wolves of Yellowstone,and there was a scene where the wolves attacked and killed one of a pair of coyotes that came around their kill,I got so upset I had to leave the room.Yes,it?s the way nature is,doesn?t mean I have to like it...

maybe it was his mom who explained him how to kill the seagull and take off all the feathers before eating it;
an excellent and unusual capture;
